Finding Your Asheville: What Does Your Ideal Mountain Lifestyle Look Like?

Think through your priorities, daily routines, and the mountain lifestyle that feels right for you.

One phrase that many of my clients have heard me say is, "You'll find your people here, whoever your people are."

One of the things I love most about Asheville is the diversity of the people who call this area home.

We're a community of artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, outdoor enthusiasts, lifelong locals, and newcomers from all walks of life.

There is a wonderful spirit of individuality here, and I believe our differences are part of what makes this community so special.

Let's Talk About You

When I first begin working with someone considering a move to Asheville, I want to get to know them.

Not just how many bedrooms they need or what their price range might be, but who they are as people.

What do you enjoy doing? What does your lifestyle look like today? What would you like it to look like once you're here?

Are you dreaming of a quiet mountain retreat, or do you envision walking to your favorite coffee shop or neighborhood restaurant?

Do you love gardening, hiking, entertaining friends, or simply sitting on a porch with a good book and a beautiful view?

Some people arrive with a very clear vision of what they want.

Others are still figuring that out.

And you know what? Both are perfectly okay.

Let's Try It On for Size!

I often describe the home-buying process as an opportunity to "try it on for size."

Think about shopping for a dress.

Have you ever spotted an amazing dress on the rack and thought, Oh, I know exactly how that's going to look on me!

Only to step into the dressing room and discover it isn't quite what you imagined?

Well, houses can be a little like that, too.

Sometimes the home that checks every box on paper doesn't feel quite right when you walk through the door.

And sometimes a property you might have overlooked turns out to be exactly what you didn't know you were looking for.

That's part of the discovery process, and frankly, it's one of my favorite parts of what I do.

The Questions That Help Us Find the Right Fit

My role isn't simply to open doors and point out beautiful kitchens.

It's to help you think through both the benefits and potential challenges of a property and how those things fit into the life you want to create.

  • How did that drive feel? Could you see yourself making it every day?
  • What do you think about those stairs? Will they work for you five or ten years from now?
  • How comfortable are you with renovations or ongoing maintenance?
  • Would you rather have that spectacular mountain view or be five minutes from your favorite restaurant?
  • Can you picture yourself living here, not just visiting for the weekend?

There are no right or wrong answers.

A house that's absolutely perfect for one buyer might be completely wrong for another.

And that's okay.

We all have different priorities, personalities, lifestyles, and dreams.

Your Asheville Might Look Different from Someone Else's

Someone might dream of a historic home in Montford with a beautiful front porch and restaurants nearby.

Someone else might imagine a home perched high in the mountains with long-range views and no neighbors in sight.

Another buyer may prefer a planned community with sidewalks, walking trails, and a neighborhood pool.

All wonderful possibilities. All completely different lifestyles.

My role is to help you sort through those wants and needs, ask thoughtful questions, offer perspective, and sometimes point out things you may not have considered.

Because ultimately, the goal isn't simply to find you a house in Asheville. It's to help you find your Asheville.

The place, the community, and the home that feel right for you.

And sometimes, finding that perfect fit means exploring a few different possibilities along the way.
